Love # 4

Germany.

Germany. Speicher. Our home. I just LOVE having the opportunity to travel and see the world... well little by little! We are just finally getting everything really set up in our house and I have to say that Germany has really become home to us! I realize that as part of the military we will have a new home every few years, but I do believe I will be heart broken to leave this place! The first picture here is our neighborhood! I love coming up and down the street! It is lined with old fashioned German homes that really set a mood! Love it!
<-----OUR house! :) It is HUGE and more space than we could possibly need, but it is perfect! It is old and has squeaky wood floors upstairs, but it has a large kitchen, a PANTRY (NOT normal at all for German homes!) It has a huge front living room and dining room with extrordinary front windows! So much light comes in that we actually have to keep the rolladins (German metal blinds) half way closed most of the time, a) so the room doesn't over heat from all the sunlight, and b) so people can't see EVERYTHING as they walk by our house at night! It is lovely! I will definitely have to post pics of the inside very soon!

 This is out Landlord's home, just across the street from our own house! It has been in his family for generations and has so much beauty inside AND out! Inside he has all kinds of tile work, and crown molding! The architecture and decor is just breathtaking! I at first assumed it was a church turned into a house! No. Just his house! Apparently the smaller of his 3! He is a surgeon, a gentleman, and a scholar! Just the sweetest man, and his wife is just as lovely! A genuine pleasure!
  I love driving in Germany. I love the rolling hills, the fields, the farm animals! I love the old homes, the tall trees! I love the history! OH how I LOVE GERMANY!

 Speicher--------------------->

We see these views everyday between home and the Air Base!

This is the road between Speicher and Dudeldorf! It is twisted, and long, and beautiful. And now as the leaves are changing to Autumn reds, yellows, and oranges it is breathtaking!--->

These last 2 pictures are of Dudeldorf! An absolutely BEAUTIFUL town just a hop, skip, and a jump away from our village! Just gorgeous! And THIS---->
passageway has scratch marks all down its inside from where General________ drove his tank through it during WWII! (I hear this story nearly every time we go through it, but I can't remember who it was! haha! I will ask Cameron and come back!.. Or someone who sees and knows can tell me!)

What an incredible blessing to be immersed in a culture, a history that I might not have known had I not taken that step into the darkness, into the unknown and ventured out into the world! I am so grateful to be here! LOVE GERMANY!

it was supposedly General Patton, but did you know that that is actually a myth? It's just scratched from delivery trucks and such. Patton himself was never in this part of Germany.
